This project for the adaptive reuse of the existing 26,000 square feet 6-story cast iron warehouse was originally designed in 1873 by J.F Duckworth and Charles Wright. The building was developed for the Sorgente Group, an Italian based real estate development company. The aim was to convert the existing warehouse building to luxury residential condominiums and add a new penthouse. The project required major structural modifications for the new central elevator and stair core. The design included a new lobby, common space, cast iron façade restoration, building envelope renovation, entirely new building system upgrades and condominium plan. MA/D provided all architectural design and interior design services, MEP and Structural engineering consultant coordination and NYC Building Department filing, Landmarks Preservation Commission approvals.
